Rockfall risk management in the Montserrat massif

TECHNICAL TOPICS

Rockfall hazard and risk characteristics in Montserrat Mountain:
- Sanctuary (2.4 million visitors/year)
- Natural Park (0.8 million visitors/year)

Singular rockfall events and effects on:
- Access infrastructures (roads and rack railway)
- Buildings (touristic and sanctuary / monastery)

Rock face monitoring by:
- Jointmetric sensors in a wireless network
- TLS or terrestrial LiDAR
- Gb-DInSAR
- Total Station

Rockfall protection, and acrobatic works:
- Stabilization works
- Protective fences

The program will include short visits to touristic spots:

- Sanctuary
- Rack Railway and funicular
- Natural Park


Tentative timetable:

Departure from Barcelona: 8:30
Return back to Barcelona: 18:30 (complete trip)
Return back to airport at 16:00 (possibility)
