The joint 8th World Conference on Computational Mechanics and 5th European Congress on Computational Methods in Applied Sciences and Engineering will take place in the Lido of Venice, on June 30th – July 4th 2008, at the Cinema Palace and Casinò Palace conference centre. Some events will also be hosted at the nearby Excelsior Hotel. The WCCM and ECCOMAS Congresses are the main scientific events organized by the International Association of Computational Mechanics (IACM), a worldwide organization gathering 27 affiliated organizations representing 35 countries, and by the European Community on Computational Methods in Applied Sciences (ECCOMAS), gathering 25 affiliated organizations representing 28 countries.

On the basis of the preceding events of the same series and the exceptional tourist attraction of the venue, this WCCM-ECCOMAS Congress is expected to be attended by about 2000 participants from all over the world.

Congress participants are drawn from industry, academia, and government agencies. The participants have a broad interest in computational mechanics with the majority working or research in solid and fluid mechanics. Attendees interest is rapidly expanding in the areas of computational materials science, micro and nanomechanics, biomechanics and computational medecine.

The WCCM-ECCOMAS Organizing Committee is soliciting organizations interested in participating in the Sponsorship and Exhibitors Program. Congress participants will be interested in viewing and discussing publications, software, hardware, and other materials, including educational, related to computational mechanics. Exhibit areas will be made available both at the Cinema Palace and the Casinò Palace. The Exhibitor Areas will be strategically located at the centre of daily activities, e.g. refreshments, to facilitate interaction of participants with Exhibitors.
