Post-Conference Tour to Røros mining town
This colourful and charming timber town was founded in 1646 and has since developed as both a mining and an agricultural community. Included on UNESCO’s list of World Heritage Sites as early as 1980. It is home to an active arts and crafts scene, factory outlets, quaint little shops and fine restaurants serving local food made with seasonal produce. Røros is about 2 hours drive south-east of Trondheim near the border to Sweden.

BERGSTADSVANDRING – GUIDED WALKING TOUR
The guided walk provides you with a basic introduction into how the old mining community has developed. The listed buildings sit side by side like pearls on a string. We will also visit courtyards that show the town’s special farmsteads. A guided tour of Røros Church is included. Duration: ca. 1 hour 15 min

RØROS CHURCH
‘Bergstadens Ziir’ – better known as Røros Church – was built during the copperwork’s golden age ‘in God’s honour and as an adornment to the town. The church, which was completed in 1784, does justice to its name with its majestic location high above the timber buildings. The Norwegian Directorate for Cultural Heritage regards the church as one of the ten most profiled churches in Norway. It is one of the country’s largest churches with seating for 1,600 people. The church has been newly opened after 2 years of extensive renovation and has now been restored to its former glory
