How do I reach the centre of Barcelona?

The C-31 dual carriageway will lead you directly into the city of Barcelona. You can
enter the city by the Gran Via or the Avinguda Diagonal, the two most direct routes
to the city centre. There are also the Ronda de Dalt and Ronda del Litoral ring
roads. The journey takes about 20 minutes depending on traffic conditions and the
time of day you arrive in Barcelona.

How do I reach the airport from the centre of Barcelona?

The road to the airport is the C-31 Barcelona-Castelldefels dual carriageway, which
connects with the C-32 Barcelona-Sitges. From the city’s outlying districts you can
use the Pota Sud. The journey takes around 20 minutes.

Advice:

• It is a good idea to hire a car if you are thinking of leaving Barcelona to visit the outskirts, the mountains or the coast, or if you are staying outside the city. However, if you are planning to stay in Barcelona, the city has a very extensive public transport system that lets you move around the city easily, and parking spaces are very limited.

• If you are driving in Barcelona, remember that the majority of streets are one way.

• The maximum speed limit is 50 km/h in built up areas, 90 km/h on local roads, 100 km/h on national highways, and 120 km/h on motorways.

• Should you come to Barcelona and need to reach a specific place in a hurry, you can phone 900 123 505 for information on the state of the roads.

• If you are travelling with small children and need special seats, check that the car hire company has some available beforehand.

• Bear in mind that prices may vary depending on whether you arrive in high-, mid- or off-season, and on the kind of car you want to hire.

• You can hire a car from the web page of all car hire companies.
