CMN 2022
The Congress of Numerical Methods in Engineering is biennial and is jointly organized by the Spanish Society of Numerical Methods in Engineering (SEMNI) and Associação Portuguesa de Mecânica Teórica, Aplicada e Computacional (APMTAC). The 2021 edition will be held at the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and will be a meeting point for researchers and technicians from both countries, as well as from the Latin American community.
The previous joint congresses of both companies were held in Madrid (2002), Lisbon (2004), Granada (2005), Porto (2007), Barcelona (2009), Coimbra (2011), Bilbao (2013), Lisbon (2015), Valencia (2017) and Minho (2019).
SEMNI
The Spanish Association for Numerical Methods in Engineering (SEMNI) emerged in 1989 with the aim of bringing together researchers, professionals, companies and institutions interested in the development and practical applications of numerical methods.
The main objectives of SEMNI are to promote, foster, organize and coordinate activities related to numerical methods and their applications in engineering. SEMNI particularly commits to representing the Spanish interests in the organization of international conferences organized by IACM and ECCOMAS, and regularly organizing the Congress on Numerical Methods in Spain.
APMTAC
The “Associação Portuguesa de Mecânica Teórica, Aplicada e Computacional“ is constituted by a group of researchers, that develop there work in the scientific domain of the theoretical, applied and computational mechanics. The Spanish Association for Numerical Methods in Engineering (SEMNI) emerged in 1989 with the aim of bringing together researchers, professionals, companies and institutions interested in the development and practical applications of numerical methods.
Within its regular activity, APMTAC promotes several events for divulgation and scientific interchange, stimulating the area of education and research in mechanics.
ULPGC
The University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, created in 1989, and with the direct antecedent of the Polytechnic University of the Canary Islands founded in 1979, is a public institution, which has a wide range of degrees in all major areas of knowledge, with the aim of offering comprehensive training to those who come to it, in a commitment based on innovation, quality and internationalization.
In a few years it has managed to position itself as one of the main Spanish universities, standing out in the use of new technologies, in research related to the marine and maritime fields (it is part of the Campus of International Excellence - Atlantic Campus Tricontinental), in the programs international mobility and its close involvement with local society, with sound finances and high scientific productivity.
Currently, the university community is made up of 24,000 members. Of these, about 21,000 are students, 1,700 are professors and researchers and 850 make up the group of administration and services personnel. The ULPGC is made up of 15 university centers distributed in 6 campuses on the islands of Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote, with 49 university degrees, 23 master's degrees and 13 doctoral programs.
