Majestic Hotel & Spa Barcelona is well known in art circles as The Hotel of the Arts. This is mostly due to the interest that the owners of the establishment have always shown for all art forms, but especially for the prestigious New Art Show, held in the hotel in 1996 and 1997. In 1997 over eleven thousand people visited the exhibition of the latest art trends selected by 50 galleries, both Spanish and international. The main objective of the exhibition was to show to the public at large, and not just to people in art circles, the work of young artists. The result according to published reviews was very positive.

Up to the present time, the hotel still has on show an impressive collection of some of the most representative artists of various avant garde movements, including Tāpies, Saura, Chillida, Guinovart, Cobo, Casamada and Gerardo Rueda. Besides them, there is a comprehensive selection of works by key figures of the 1980’s like Llimes, Lluis Lleó, Miguel Ángel Campano, García Sevilla and Plensa. Finally, the hotel exhibits the work of younger artists who, nonetheless, have already shown their pieces in prestigious national and international galleries: AnishKapoor, Richard Long and Richard Deacon. Besides all the above, the hotel is also proud to have an splendid mural by artist Philip Stanton that can be appreciated on the 10th floor, by the outdoor swimming pool.
All in all, a truly impressive art collection that includes various well known art trends and movements to be enjoyed by all those visiting the hotel.
